Hisnul Muslim: Supplications from the Quran and Sunnah
Hisnul Muslim min Adhkar al-Kitab wa al-Sunnah, widely known in English as Fortress of the Muslim, is a concise manual of supplications and remembrances compiled by Sa'id ibn Ali ibn Wahf al-Qahtani (1371–1440 AH / 1951–2018 CE). The work was prepared in 1409 AH / 1988 CE as an abridgment of the author's longer study of remembrance, supplication, and Quranic and Prophetic treatments.
1. Scope
The book gathers supplications for recurring moments in a Muslim's life, including waking and sleeping, dressing, purification, prayer, morning and evening remembrance, travel, meals, illness, grief, visiting, and social interaction.
2. Arrangement
Its short chapters are organized by situation so the appropriate supplication can be found quickly. The framework represented here follows Mukhtasar Hisnul Muslim, an abridged presentation that divides the material into compact, practical reading units.
3. Methodology
The Arabic wording of each supplication is paired with concise source references rather than extended commentary. This keeps the focus on learning, reciting, and applying established remembrances while allowing readers to trace them to the Quran or hadith collections.
4. Scholarly and Devotional Value
Hisnul Muslim is valued for its clarity, portability, and everyday usefulness. Its accessible organization has made it one of the most widely circulated contemporary collections of duas and adhkar in many languages.
