Premium

Go deeper, distraction-free — and support the mission.

Al Islam is free at its core. Every act of reading, every calculation, every tool for daily practice works without paying anything, forever.

Al Islam Premium is an optional subscription that removes advertising and unlocks the parts of the app built on top of that core — most significantly Intelligence, the layer that puts your own AI models to work on everything you read.

What Premium unlocks

Intelligence — the headline

The whole Intelligence suite: translation, listening, asking, standing translations, your own commands, dictation, the routing table, the library, and the actions studio — available on every reading surface in the app.

This is the largest single thing Premium adds, and it works on a model worth understanding before you subscribe: Al Islam does not sell you model access. The subscription unlocks the suite. The models run on your own provider account, under your own key, billed by your provider directly to you.

That means there is no token bundle to run out of, no markup on usage, and no metering by us. It also means the running cost is yours to control — and can be zero, because several supported providers run locally on your own machine with no key and no bill at all. See Intelligence and what it costs.

No advertising

No interstitials. No banners. Nothing between you and what you came to read.

The free plan's advertising is capped and predictable rather than aggressive — the details are in the ad contract below — but Premium removes it completely.

Cloud backup for Collections

Your Collections — including the notes attached to the items inside them — sync across your devices and survive a reinstall.

  • Changes sync in real time when you are online
  • Offline changes queue and sync when you reconnect
  • Conflicts between devices resolve automatically
  • Everything travels over encrypted connections, and your records are reachable only by your own account

Be precise about what this covers. Notes live inside Collections in Al Islam — both notes attached to a saved ayah or narration and standalone note items — so your notes and their drawings are covered by backup, together with your account details.

Backup does not cover tasbeeh records, reading history, prayer or calendar settings, fasting logs, imported fonts, AI keys, or saved AI translations. Those live on your device whether backup is on or off. See the Privacy Policy for the complete account.

Unlimited location profiles

The free plan keeps five Prayer Times location profiles, which is enough for a home, a workplace, and a few places you travel to. Premium removes the limit entirely — useful if you travel often, or keep profiles for family in other cities.

Unlimited typography and display options

The free plan allows a generous but finite number of imported fonts and Quran display configurations. Premium removes those ceilings, so every language can have its own imported typeface and every reading surface its own arrangement. See Text Customization.

Early access

New collections, new languages, and new features reach Premium subscribers first.

What stays free, forever

This list is the point of the product, so it is worth stating in full. None of the following is ever gated:

Free forever What you get
Quran All 6,236 ayahs, 122 translations across 62 languages, 95 works of tafsir, complete offline
Hadith 33 collections, 232,559 narrations, full metadata and grading, complete offline
Prayer Times 11 calculation methods, Sun/Sky/Hijri views, the full almanac, offline calculation, up to 5 location profiles
Qibla Finder All five finding methods including AR, plus the scientific view
Hijri Calendar The complete calendar, occasions, moon phases, fasting logs, personal events, converter, birthday finder
Tasbeeh The counter, the dhikr library, custom adhkar, routines, goals, streaks, statistics
Notes — Qalam The entire writing system: formatting, drawings, references, honorifics, Arabic support
Search The full offline engine with advanced query syntax across everything
Collections Unlimited nesting, unlimited items, rich notes — locally
History Complete reading logs, streaks, activity graphs, habit analysis
Home Widgets Every widget
Text Customization Per-language typography and colour control

Premium adds to this. It never takes anything away from it, and no existing free feature has ever been moved behind the subscription.

Plans and pricing

Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, available in two plans:

Plan Billing
Monthly Renews every month
Annual Renews every twelve months, at a lower effective rate

Prices are always shown live, in your own currency and market. Al Islam does not hardcode a price anywhere — every figure you see in the app comes from Google Play for your account and region at the moment you look at it. Where the app shows a comparison between the two plans, that figure is calculated from those live prices rather than quoted from a fixed table.

If a price has not loaded yet, the app says so and shows a placeholder rather than a stale number. If it cannot load at all, it says that too. You will never be quoted a figure that is not the one you would actually pay.

All billing is handled by Google Play. Al Islam never sees, processes, or stores payment details — no card numbers, no billing address, no bank details.

The free plan's ad contract

Advertising funds the free tier. Rather than leave that vague, here is exactly how it behaves.

At most five interstitials a day

The free plan shows no more than five full-screen interstitial ads per day. This is not a guideline or an intention — it is a hard ceiling the app enforces.

Some specifics that matter:

  • The counter persists. It is stored per calendar day on your device, so force-quitting the app, restarting your phone, or clearing it from the recents list does not reset it. There is no way for the count to be gamed upward, and adjusting your device clock can only ever reduce the ads you see.
  • There is a cooldown. Even well under the daily ceiling, interstitials are spaced by a minimum interval so you never get two in quick succession.
  • The start of a session is protected. The first couple of screens you move through after opening the app are never interrupted, so the app never greets you with an ad.

You are always told where you stand

After every interstitial you sit through, the app shows you a short panel stating which ad of the five that was, with a segment meter — alongside what Premium would change and the live prices of both plans.

This is deliberate. An app that shows you an ad and says nothing is asking you to simply absorb it; an app that tells you it was the second of five, and what the alternative costs, is being straight with you about the deal you are in.

Banner advertising

Banners appear in a small number of places on the free plan and are removed entirely by Premium.

What advertising never touches

Ad requests carry none of your personal content. Not your notes, not your collections, not your reading history, not your prayer data, not your location, not your AI activity. We do not sell personal data to advertisers, and we do not build advertising profiles from what you read or study.

Ad personalization is governed by your Android settings, where you can reset your advertising identifier or opt out of personalized ads at any time. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Intelligence and what it costs

This is the part most worth understanding, because it works differently from almost every other app with AI in it.

Two separate things

What it is Who bills you
Al Islam Premium Unlocks the Intelligence suite — the interface, routing, library, studio, dictation Google Play, on your subscription
Your AI provider Runs the actual models Your provider, on your own account

We do not resell model access, mark it up, meter it, or take a share. There is no bundle of credits included with the subscription, and none to exhaust.

Why it was built this way

Reselling model access would have been simpler to build and easier to monetise. It was rejected because every version of it is worse for you:

  • Your content would pass through our servers on the way to the model. Under BYOK it does not — requests go from your device to your provider directly, with no proxy and no relay of ours in between.
  • Your costs would be hidden inside our margin instead of itemised by your provider.
  • Your model choice would be limited to whatever we had negotiated, and a model released this morning would wait for an app update.

What it can actually cost you

Anywhere from nothing upward, and you control it:

  • Nothing at all. Five supported options — Ollama, LM Studio, Jan, llama.cpp and vLLM — run on your own machine. No key, no account, no bill, and nothing leaving your network.
  • Very little. Dedicated translation services and open-model inference platforms are inexpensive, and several have free tiers sufficient for occasional reading.
  • More, if you choose. Major-lab models cost the most and are usually the most capable.

Two things reduce it further regardless of provider: translations are saved, so the same passage is never paid for twice, and repeats are served instantly from your device rather than the network.

The Activity screen inside Intelligence shows what you have used — by connection, by day, request by request — so your provider's invoice is never a surprise.

Managing your subscription

Subscribing

Open Premium from your Profile or from any locked feature. Both plans are shown with live prices for your market. Purchase completes through Google Play.

Cancelling

Cancel any time through Google Play → Subscriptions. Two things to know:

  • Cancelling stops future renewals. It does not end the period you have already paid for — Premium features stay available until that period expires.
  • Uninstalling the app does not cancel anything. A subscription lives with your Google account, not with the installation. You must cancel through Google Play.

Refunds

Refunds are governed primarily by Google Play's refund policy, and requests are usually best made directly to Google Play.

If Premium was not granted despite a completed payment, contact us at support.alislam@lymrah.com and we will resolve it or support your refund request in full.

Statutory rights of withdrawal or refund that apply where you live are unaffected. Full terms are in the Terms and Conditions.

Price changes

If the price of an existing subscription changes, you will be notified in advance in accordance with Google Play's requirements, and you will be able to cancel before it takes effect. A change never applies retroactively to a period you have already paid for.

If your subscription lapses

Your content is never deleted.

Everything you made while subscribed stays yours and stays on your device: saved translations, your own commands, translation lanes, notes, collections, configurations, connections. Premium features become unavailable; your data does not go anywhere.

Concretely, when a subscription ends:

  • Intelligence features stop running, and the surfaces that use them show as locked rather than disappearing.
  • Your saved translations remain readable in your Library.
  • Your provider connections remain configured, and removing a connection stays available to you at all times — you are never locked out of deleting your own keys.
  • Collection backup stops syncing. Your local Collections are untouched, and anything already backed up stays on the server until you delete your account.
  • Location profiles above the free limit are preserved, not deleted — you simply cannot add more until you are back over the line.

Resubscribing restores everything exactly as it was.

How entitlement works

Worth a short, plain explanation, because it affects what you should expect.

Purchases are verified with Google Play on our servers, not trusted from the device. Your subscription status is then carried in your signed session, and the app reads it only from there — there is no local "premium" switch anywhere in the app that could be flipped.

Practically, this means:

  • You must be signed in for Premium to apply, and it applies on every device you sign in on.
  • Expiry is re-checked continuously, so a lapsed subscription is recognised without needing a restart.
  • Cancellation is picked up automatically from Google Play.
  • If your entitlement looks stale, the app refreshes it in the background rather than making you do anything.

Frequently asked questions

Is Al Islam still usable without Premium?

Entirely. Every core feature — Quran, Hadith, Prayer Times, Qibla, Hijri Calendar, Tasbeeh, Notes, Search, Collections, History, Widgets, Text Customization — is free and complete. Premium adds Intelligence, removes ads, and lifts a few limits. It does not unlock the app.

Do I need Premium and an AI subscription?

To use Intelligence, yes — Premium unlocks the suite, and a provider account runs the models. But a provider account can cost nothing: local models need no key and no billing at all. See Intelligence and what it costs.

Why doesn't Premium just include the AI usage?

Because including it would mean routing your content through our servers, hiding your costs inside our margin, and limiting your model choice to what we negotiated. BYOK avoids all three. It is a deliberate trade: slightly more setup, considerably more control and privacy.

Does Premium sync my notes and history?

Your notes, yes — notes live inside Collections, so backup covers them along with everything else in your Collections. Your reading history, no; nor tasbeeh records, calendar data, fasting logs or settings. Those remain on your device. See Collections and the Privacy Policy.

What is the difference between the monthly and annual plans?

Only billing frequency and effective rate. The features are identical. Live prices for both are shown in the app in your own currency.

Can I share Premium with family?

Premium follows your Al Islam account and applies on every device you sign in on. Google Play's own family sharing rules govern the purchase itself.

Will more features move behind Premium later?

No free feature has ever been moved behind the subscription, and we do not intend to start. New capabilities may launch as Premium; existing free ones stay free.

How do I see what my AI usage is costing?

The Activity screen inside Intelligence shows totals, day-by-day usage, a breakdown per connection, and a log of individual requests. Your provider's own console is the billing source of truth, and every service in the catalogue links to it.
